Omega breaks the bank within the friendly walls of the fifteenth edition of a slalom in the town of Bolca, where the home team excelled.
There are many reasons to celebrate on Sunday as we wait for the ranking of the trophies for which the Scaliger event was valid to be officially announced, starting with the third step of the overall podium, second place in the E2SC group and first place in the E2SC1000 Alessandro Zanoni, winner of the last edition and still looking for the right feeling between the doors with the Norma NP03.
The rider from Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella also achieved third place in the Trofeo Veneto Trentino +, a series that ended in the province of Verona.
“It didn’t go the way we wanted,” says Zanoni, “but complaining about third place in the overall ranking makes me smile.” Very well organized race, congratulations on the Media Rally. We’re struggling with this new car in our doors, but we’re working to grow. Thanks to Rope Motorsport, Omega and all partners who made it possible for us to overcome this intense 2023 season.”
Fifth overall, a double victory in the E2SS group and in the E2SS1150 class, for Luca Giammattei, who made his absolute debut at the gates of Bolca with his Alpha-designed Gloria C8P.
“We are very happy with the result” – says Giammattei – “and I would say that as a first approach for a slalom everything was positive. We have already understood where we can improve.”
Close behind him is Leonardo Chesini, sixth overall but also third in the E2SS and E2SS1150, who should have made the Zone 1 Slalom Cup in the E2SS his own with the Gloria C8P.
“We are happy with what we achieved in Bolca,” says Chesini, “also because with this result we should have won the first zone of the CZS.”
From the single-seaters to an E1 Italia where the local team’s leaders shone, starting with a sensational Riccardo Pisa who finished an incredible tenth overall in the Autobianchi A112 Abarth with the Alpha number plate, finishing first in the group and in the Class E11400.
A result that is reflected in the overall victory of TVT+, shared with the success of Omega, which takes over the ranking reserved for teams.
“The first run was the good one,” says Pisa, “while in the third we took a big risk and touched a rail, but we saved ourselves. Things that happen when you try hard to find the limit. Congratulations to everyone, wonderful organization. We became champions in the Veneto Trentino + Trophy, is that better?”
From the third step of the podium of the E11400, he was joined by Renato Marchetto, who, behind the wheel of his Fiat Punto, took on the excessive load compared to the competition and was happy with the result achieved in the last race of 2023.
The icing on the cake was tenth place overall in the TVT+ ranking.
Nicola Marconi, racing a Group N Peugeot 106 Rallye under the Alpha flag, was slowed by the rust that had accumulated during his long absence from the cockpit but was determined to aim for a high level.
Pierpaolo Fasolato finished with a good result, second in the RS group and in the RS1600 with his Citroen Saxo Racing entry, and was happy to have unleashed the few horsepower available in the guided section despite a long series of technical problems that put him at a disadvantage .
From Saturday and Sunday in the province of Verona until the third to last round of an Italian slalom championship, where Giovanni Tumminello started as leader at the start of the Salerno – Croce di Cava slalom held on the same days in Group N.
The driver from Formigine achieved a good fifth place in the N1600 class and a sixth place in the production class for the colors of Alpha behind the wheel of the Peugeot 106 Rally Group N, making some mistakes on the third lap that made a better result considerably impaired.
