Abano Terme (PD), April 4, 2023– A new cycle begins at Funny Team, but the common denominator of expressing yourself at a high level, regardless of the pitch, remains unchanged and the second edition of the Slalom Monte di Malo also confirms this.
Last Saturday and Sunday the team from Abano Terme put a very strong quartet at the start of the first round valid for the Veneto Trentino + Trophy.
Three out of four targets were hit, starting with Franco Quintarelli, who finished ninth overall in his Fiat 127 and enjoyed Group S and S3 class successes.
“First race of the year and first win” – says Quintarelli – “thanks to a perfect car. I am very satisfied and for that I thank the Funny team, my mechanics Domenico and Alessandro and everyone who visited us for this premiere of TVT+.”
From one double to the other with the secretary of the Padua Federation, Nicola Dal Ben, who, at the wheel of a renewed Citroen Saxo in production version, conquered the top of the group N and the class N1600, enriching the spoils with eleventh place overall.
“We’re not quite at the top with the car yet,” says Dal Ben, “but the fruits of the development over the last few months are showing. The team was perfect, as was our saxo, really spectacular. If I hadn’t made that mistake of knocking over a pin in the second round, I would have been even happier, but that’s okay. Starting the championship with a win and just touching the top ten bodes well for the rest of the year.”
A brilliant start to 2023 also for Elisa Serafin, who crowned third place in the RSP group with a Citroen Saxo in the Racing Start version, with which she made the RS16P class her own.
The women’s laurels also came for the team’s third forward.
“To be honest, I’m not very happy” – says Serafin – “because I was sad that I couldn’t remember the route well due to the wet conditions at the beginning of the day. I’m happy but not satisfied with the time achieved. We won the class and the women, a great start to the Veneto Trentino + Trophy season. Thanks to Nicola Dal Ben and Enrico Trolio, fundamental for my growth. Thanks also to Cognolato Racing for the excellent support. We started off on the right foot.”
From the satisfaction of the flag-bearers Negrar, Cadoneghe and Chiarano, who were also able to give up third place in the overall team, to the bitter disappointment of Marco Tessari, who had to leave the company early due to technical problems with the clutch of his Fiat 500 Proto, which left him after the training run stopped.
