Rally della Lanterna, a historic appointment for Italian rallying, which this year also has another interesting edition.
The Genoese classic, also known as the seventh Val d’Aveto Rally, has reached its thirty-ninth climax and will be valid for the ACI Sport Rally Cup in the second zone.
Also Collecchio Corse will be present at such a prestigious appointment, ready to field a Massimo Minardi in excellent form, fresh from the successes on the home roads of the Taro and in search of the third consecutive podium on those of the Ligurian hinterland.
“The Lanterna is a race with an incredible past” – says Minardi – “and it’s always nice to be able to race on these roads again, even if the event no longer enjoys the validity it once had when we passed the Top Italians spoke.” Championships. At Taro we started the season very well, but this year, at least for the moment, we don’t have a specific program in mind. Now we are ready to tackle the beautiful roads of Liguria again.”
An almost permanent stage, that of the Lanterna, in the sports calendar of the Parma rider, which has already seen three best results in this area with a win and a second place, while the only downside is back to his debut in the 2017 season with the forced resignation.
“The Lanterna is a race that I really like”, Minardi points out, “and only for various reasons I could not attend the last editions. I’m particularly looking forward to coming back here because these are areas that have often brought us good fortune. In 2020 we won the class and in 2019 we placed second. We’ve only stopped once, the first time, so we’re confident our heritage will live on.”
There will be two days of competition awaiting the flag-bearer of the Felino stable at the gate, paired with Simona Camera on the usual Citroen C2 Group A, starting Saturday 10 June, which will be articulated on the two passages of the “Monte Penna “ (13.28km).
The following stage, scheduled for Sunday 11 June, will include two more timed sections, that of “Due Valli” (8.73 km) and “Montebruno” (11.25 km), both for a Doubles must be repeated to complete the little more than sixty-six timed kilometers.
“The route promises to be extremely interesting” – concludes Minardi – “and already the first day of competition, Saturday, will be able to outline the values in the field, given the length of the test that lies ahead of us.” . For my part, I am happy that my historical navigator Simona Camera is back and I am sure that in these two days in Liguria we will have the opportunity to have fun. Our goal is to do well, that’s for sure, mainly because we want to reward all partners who allow us to continue to bring our passion for rallying to life. Thank you to the Collecchio Corse team who are always there for us.”
