The month of August begins and, as has become a tradition, this means that in Triveneto, on the occasion of the Città di Scorzè Rally, it’s time to descend into the plain.
In the classic appointment with the fourth zone ACI Sport Rally Cup scheduled for the weekend, the Xmotors team will start with two undeniably prestigious points and the collaboration with the La Superba team, which will participate in both, renew.
The spotlight will undoubtedly focus on the man to beat: Giampaolo Bizzotto, who climbed to the top step of the absolute podium in 2022 and wore a laurel wreath that he will have to defend alongside Sandra Tommasini over the weekend.
The driver from Tombolo will again put himself in the care of PR2 Sport and will compete in a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, with which he will try at all costs to confirm the number one.
“First of all, I would like to thank all our partners from the bottom of our hearts,” says Bizzotto, “because it is only thanks to them that we will be at the start of the Città di Scorzè with an absolute car.” We are setting the season in Rallye 4 following the local CRZ and this participation was not planned. Given the excellent result in 2022, Sandra and I will try to do our best to be competitive. Winning is never easy, but it’s even easier to repeat yourself. We will try to defend ourselves and fight. The rumor has it that the starting list is full as always, so I’m predicting a great fight.”
Essentially it was a home race for Daniele Zamberlan, who was looking for redemption and prematurely ending a program that should have seen him as a full-time driver in the International Rally Cup.
The rider from Casale sul Sile, who has returned after a few years at the top, will be back on the grid from 2020, when he emerged from the treacherous Venice countryside with a good second place in his class.
The same car as then, the Renault Clio Super 1600 provided here by MotulTech Racing, and the same navigator, with Enrico Nicoletti on his right.
“I’ve done over a dozen races here,” says Zamberlan, “and if I remember correctly it should have been thirteen or fourteen. I have not driven the Clio Super 1600 since 2020, a fabulous car that has given me great satisfaction. After two seasons with Skoda and a short Elba season with the 106 we can say that it will be kind of a fresh start with the front tyres. We have to start over. We will try to regain confidence after the heavy setback on Elba and our goal is to be competitive, both in our class and between two-wheelers.”
Nine special stages are planned for the two Scorzè days, starting with a Friday 4th August which will focus on the “Base” show (2.55 km) and a preview of a Saturday 5th August, which will be based on the double passage of “Fassinaro” (10.80 km), “Preganziol” (5.14 km) and “Zero Branco” (7.40 km), before we move on to the “Fassinaro Mini” (5 .90 km) and repeat the “preganziol” to complete the timed kilometers of just over sixty.
