About a month has passed but for the protagonists of the Olympia Trophy it is time to restart their engines to compete in the third round of the series scheduled for Sunday 18 June with the Casina Slalom .
The Felino-based team will compete in the Reggio Emilia province with two flag bearers, starting with a Cristian Lanzi who will be in the game with his Citroen C2 R2.
Once again, the rider from Castellarano will work alongside Mirca Rivi in an attempt to stage a comeback that could take him back from the current provisional eighth place.
“We have run this slalom many times before” – says Cristian Lanzi – “and we hope that the weather will cooperate because we will start with a new set-up.” When the conditions are dry, we have the opportunity to use different settings to test to be competitive. When it’s wet we have to make a lot more effort. The goal is definitely a podium finish, but I see it as difficult in the championship because as we’ve only competed in one event we should finish eighth. Many thanks to Collecchio Corse for the support.”
In search of the third consecutive podium will be Daniele Borelli, who will start as the current leader of the Sport category, still at the wheel of his Fiat 126 Proto.
Baiso’s driver will be the opponent everyone wants to beat, but the role of leader doesn’t worry him, determined to extend the championship in what is almost a home race.
“Even though we’re going to be driving on roads that are very close to me,” says Borelli, “I don’t feel like I’m among the favorites because Casina’s route isn’t the best. We’re top of the table, we’ve won the second round and of course everyone will try to stay in front of us. If we don’t manage to keep up for the win, we’ll try to take home as many championship points as possible. Many thanks to Collecchio Corse and to all the partners who help us.”
“Good luck to our two forwards who are ready for Casina”, adds Amedeo Fico (Vice-President of Collecchio Corse), “who will start with different ambitions”. If for Lanzi it will be a game where, despite the technical Innovations that he will bring to the field, above all the individual result counts, things are different for Borelli. The latter took off like a rocket at the Olympia, finished second at Baiso and first at Sassuolo, so naturally we expect him to be aiming for the hat-trick on the podium here. He doesn’t like this track, but with a view to the championship he has to assess the situation on Sunday and try to optimize the points factor.”
