The rally bracket now seems to have faded on the horizon and for Amedeo Fico the doors of the Italian Formula X Series, one of the up-and-coming series for speed on the circuit, are open from next weekend.
Numerous championships are held in this innovative container, including the ATCC Sprint Series, where the Vice President of Collecchio Corse will be in action.
An alternative format compared to the traditional one in Italy, with a regular season divided into four dates, starting with the Autodromo dell’Umbria (3rd and 4th June) and then with the Autodromo di Varano de’ Melegari (17th June). and 18 June) and with the Vallelunga circuit (8 and 9 July), before returning to the Varano de’ Melegari circuit (23 and 24 September), in the final round that will determine who the finalists will be will be.
The top eight of the tricolor will go head-to-head in the Superstar Race at the Misano World Circuit (November 11-23) in a melee that will unite them with the rest of the various European series.
The Felino driver, returning to the circuit after a long absence, can count on the pure one-make cup style formula and indeed all participants on the grid will fight for the final scepter aboard a Renault Twingo Cup made available by LEMA Racing.
“It was a short but intense rallying interlude” – says Fico (Vice President of Collecchio Corse) – “and even if it didn’t last long, I have to say that I learned a lot from it.” I’m looking forward to racing again to drive on the circuit, an environment that seems much more familiar to me. We’ll all start with the same car, but I’m aware that, at least for the first few outings, I’ll have to pay the price for not having the experience of my competitors with this Twingo. Only four weekends and a total of eight races are available to reach the final. As always, we will do our best to be competitive in every single away game.”
Everything is now ready for the opening round in Magione. The curtain rises on Saturday for this unprecedented challenge, as double free practice is scheduled for the morning.
Only one qualifying in the afternoon serves to determine the starting grid for race 1, in which the green light is given in the late afternoon and the first values in the field are determined.
The following Sunday, around noon, the planned start for race 2.
A new adventure for Fico, who will also enjoy the support of Ame Racing.
“According to the rumors last night” – adds Fico – “there should be about twenty of us on the grid and I have to admit that it’s not easy to spot such a big branded store.” Having fun has to come first, because it is the basis of our actions. Of course we will try to grow and improve from race to race, but we know that the first lap, Magione’s, will benefit those with more experience than us. Many thanks to Collecchio Corse and Ame Racing for the opportunity to represent them in a championship that promises to be very interesting. Many thanks to all partners involved.”
