His start to the season was slow, work and personal commitments kept him away from sporting activities, but for Andrea Casarotto it’s finally time to get back behind the wheel of a racing car.
The occasion is one of the most coveted, the Rallye della Marca, and to increase the amount of novelty, the driver from Vicenza, in addition to making his absolute debut on the roads of the Treviso region, has also decided to remap the cards once again mix , on the technical front and in the crew.
The appointment applies to the third zone ACI Sport Rally Cup scheduled for next weekend. The Movisport flag bearer will be present at the premiere on the Peugeot 208 Rally4 provided by Vsport, creating an unprecedented pairing with Roberto Briani.
“After a long break we’re wearing helmets and overalls again,” says Casarotto, “because I preferred to prioritize work and personal commitments.” to change and plunge into the fray of one of the most aggressive classes of the moment, the Rally4. Everything will be new to me, from the race to the car to the navigation system. The only certainties will be the Movisport team and the Vsport team. For this event I will have a new co-driver at my side, Roberto Briani, who already has many years of experience both off-road and in the Rally2 class. A whole new experience based on a friendship that has been connecting us for several years now. We both want to get involved.
Marca, second act with maximum coefficient in zone three of the CRZ, could open an interesting scenario for Casarotto, who is also entered in the attached R Italian Trophy.
“This is the second appointment in this field”, emphasizes Casarotto, “and it cannot be ruled out that in the event of a positive result we will think about continuing on this path since we also participated in the R Italian Trophy.” We will continue to use Michelin tires because I felt very good in 2022 and won zone six virtually without having competed in the required minimum number of races. Everything will be new, everything has to be discovered, but it is very stimulating.”
Two days of competition are planned for the 2023 edition of Marca, starting with the special show “Zadraring” (1.71 km), which will take place on Friday 26 May in the evening.
The following Saturday, May 27th, the challenge will move to the Bosco del Madean (7.17 km), Monte Tomba (10.00 km) and Mostaccin (7.48 km) periods.
Two full passes in a row and a third counting the repetition of the first two.
“2023 will be a challenge for me” – Casarotto concludes – “because I will have a completely new package in my hands.” There will be a lot of news and I have to focus particularly on gaining kilometers and experience and every single away game to manage in the best possible way. The special stages are beautiful, the classics of Italian rallying. They are very technical and that will allow us to have a great gym to train in. We are aware of how strong the competition will be in the race but I am happy and looking forward to testing this new car. Many thanks to all partners who made this possible.”
