Possible venue change of the historic Western and Southern Open tournament: from Cincinnati to Charlotte?
One of the most historic tournaments on the calendar could see dramatic changes. It’s about the western and southern open on which to play cincinnatithe city where it has been founded since 1899 and which is in danger of changing its location due to an incredible project.
The tournament was bought by Beemok Capital in August last year, and the Business Courier reports that the group is considering building a tennis complex worth about $100,000 400 million dollars to bring about this change of town. According to the same source, the idea is to move the Western and Southern Opens Charlotte, with the possibility of building this complex of 40 places from scratch. However, staying in Cincinnati isn’t officially ruled out just yet, although it’s a growing option considering the tournament will also be played for two weeks starting in 2025, which could be the basis of this idea for a city change.
