Luca Nardi ITA, 08/06/2003
Luke Nardi He reached the final of the tournament Pune challengerin India after beating the Czech in the semifinals Dominic Palan, coming out of qualification and ranked 412 in the ATP ranking. The win over Palan, who eliminated Taiwan’s Chun-Hsin Tseng, world No. 124 and second seed in the preliminary round, confirmed the Italian tennis player’s good week.
In the match against Palan, Nardi had to fight hard for the win, only winning the match in the third set and finishing 7-6 (4), 1-6, 7-5 in 2 hours and 15 minutes of the game. There was no precedent between the two players and the match was very even, with Nardi only having the upper hand thanks to his determination and his ability to fight to the end this time.
In the third and deciding set, Luca placed the winning paw at 6-5 as he went from 15 to 3 straight points (thanks in part to a double fault from the Czech at 15) by breaking his opponent’s serve and winning set and match for 7 to 5 .
With this win, Nardi will be aiming for the fourth success of his career on the Challenger circuit, following last year’s victories in Forli, Mallorca and Lugano. In the final, the Italian tennis player meets one of them Miljan Zekić from Serbia and Max Purcell from Australia, 3rd seed in the tournament.
