The choice is made. Coach Edoardo Casalone, together with the rest of the technical staff and under the supervision of technical manager Gianmarco Pozzecco, has selected the 12 players who will host the two friendlies against Spain on July 3rd and 4th in Torrejon de Ardoz, near Madrid 22 will play .
Both games (8:30 p.m.) will be broadcast on the Italbasket Twitch channel.
Athletes Gianmarco Arletti, Francesco Borra, Domenico D’Argenzio, Chinonso Giovanni Emejuru, Matteo Ghirlanda and Leonardo Marangon were allowed to leave the meeting before leaving for Spain.
These are the 12 players: Filippo Gallo, Samuele Miccoli, Saverio and Vittorio Bartoli, Matteo Librizzi, Grant Basile, Maximilian Ladurner, Mouhamet Diouf, Matteo Schina, Sasha Grant, Dame Sarr and Niccolò Filoni.
According to coach Edoardo Casalone: ”We are preparing to conclude a very satisfying week of work.” The intention was to give these guys the opportunity to sniff the atmosphere of our Azzurra family and to become part of a larger project. Despite the age difference, the great availability of everyone allowed us to conduct very profitable sessions. The two games we will play in Spain will serve as a conclusion, but what we wanted to see and offer to the team was a week of coming together and working together. As always, it was not pleasant to have to reduce the squad from 18 to 12 players and for that, on behalf of the entire staff, I would like to thank the 6 guys who left the meeting. I’m sure it was a formative experience that each of them will look back on fondly to further enrich their luggage.”
In both friendlies, the team will wear the classic white uniform but with green shirt numbers and the “Macron 4 Planet” logo. The new tank tops convey a strong message of sustainability and respect for the environment: the match kits are in fact made of Eco Fabric, 100% recycled polyester from PET.
“Momo” Diouf, who has six caps for the senior team, is the team’s captain.
