Luca Nardi and Lorenzo Giustino prepare to face off in the second round of the Pune Challenger tournament in India. The tournament features a $130,000 prize pool and both Italians got off to a good start by defeating Zimbabwean qualifier Benjamin Lock and Vietnamese Nam Hoang Ly respectively. This is the second official meeting between the two Italian tennis players after playing in the first round of the Biella Challenger in 2021 in which Giustino won due to Nardi’s withdrawal when the latter was trailing 4-1 with 26 64. Nardi, 19 years old from Pesaro and number 151 in the ATP ranking, is seeded at number 4 in the tournament and will try to get revenge on Giustino, number 223 in the ranking.
Francesco Maestrelli, Number 175 in the ATP ranking and seeded number 5 in the tournament, is also involved in the tournament, beating Australia’s Marc Polmans in the first round by a score of 16 61 62. Maestrelli, enjoying a good moment of form, is waiting , to know his opponent in the second round, who will emerge from the match between British lucky loser Jay Clarke and fellow Australian Dane Sweeny.
