There SMI Rome Trim the second seasonal disappointment Stamplast M2G Green Bari Group who, after the tie-break knockout in the first leg, was also beaten against Palasport by Guidonia Montecelio (3:1, the final result was made up of the following partial results: 25:20, 25:12, 21:25, 25 – 23).
The red-white collective fails in the redemption action and plays a match below expectations, especially in the first two sets.
The all too shy approach to the game and the low risk of serving marked the poor performance of coach Beppe Spinelli’s men, who only managed to worry the hosts in the third set, but could not do anything in the presence of Rossi and his opponents (21 points on the score sheet for the opposing Giallorossi).
The tenth setback in the Blue Group takes third placenow five points away and occupied by OmiFer Palmi, who won the straight match against Maury’s Com Cavi Tuscania in three sets.
A night to be forgotten for the Red and Whites, also in view of the next home game against Shedirpharma Sorrento, scheduled for Saturday 4 March at 8.30pm.
Coach Budani he chooses Alfieri to direct, opposite Rossi, Sablone and De Fabritiis in the band, Antonucci and Mercanti in the middle, and finally Recupito in the role of libero. Coach Spinelli responds with the Leoni-Paoletti diagonal, the spikers Wojcik and Ciavarella, the central defenders Persoglia and Giorgio and with Rinaldi at the head of the defence.
There SMI Rome Strong start right away: De Fabritiis’ block on captain Paoletti and Sablone’s ace ensured the provisional 6-2 win. Stamplast M2G Green Group is struggling to refuel, slipping away from the hosts to -7 (12-5) after back-to-back attacking errors. Bari’s reaction follows immediately: Persoglia and Leoni raise their voices against the block, Wojcik and Ciavarella do not forgive from fourth place and the game is even again (15-14). But only for a while. Indeed in subsequent exchanges Rome returns to make the difference in the block with Mercanti and Antonucci and manages to win 25-20 after Wojcik’s error in service.
When hostilities resumed, the Giallorossi are still ahead (12-7), propelled by a wild Rossi on serve (two aces to him). In order to somehow prevent the escape of the hosts, coach Spinelli immediately takes cover by using the diagonal Martinelli-Petruzelli V. for the tandem Leoni-Paoletti and Ferenciac instead of Wojcik. However, the script of the game does not change. The solo of SMI Rome continues with the seal from the center of Antonucci (19-9). At the end, Mercanti takes care of writing the last word on a second sentence that is never discussed (25-12).
Returning to the field, Bari gets back on track: Leoni’s excellent block work (5-9) and Wojcik’s important serving series lead to the red-white break (7-15). After the blockades of Persoglia on Sablone (12-20) and Ciavarella on Acconci (13-22), the Stamplast M2G Green Group is approaching the conquest of the game, which occurs with the winning stone of the number 13 of Bari after recovering the opponents in the final (21-25).
The fourth movement teeters on the edge of equilibrium, with Rossi’s Lob (12-11) followed by Ciavarella’s Fireball (12-12). The subsequent break of the Giallorossi (15:12) forces coach Spinelli to take a break. Bari’s immediate response (17-16) is promptly thwarted by the usual Rossi, who leads his team by hand to 21-16. The last-minute comeback attempt led by Wojcik (24:23, block on Rossi) finally fails because of Antonucci’s victorious first half (25:23), which ends the game.
