In the decisive qualifying round for the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai Matteo Arnaldi and Francesco Passaro they were eliminated. The youngster from Sanremo, who is 110th in the ATP ranking and eighth in qualifying, lost to the Czech Tomas Machac, 22, in just 53 minutes of play 6-0, 6-1 by Beroun and currently No. 120 in the ATP rankings. This was the first confrontation between the two tennis players.
The 22-year-old Perugian, ranked 109th in the ATP rankings and seeded seventh in qualifying, was also eliminated by Bulgaria’s Alexander Lazarov. The latter, who is of American descent and was born in Miami, gained access to the main draw thanks to a wildcard and is currently ranked 304th in the ATP rankings. Passaro gave up the game with a score of 7-5, 7-5 in an hour and 35 minutes of play.
