Speaking to L’Equipe, Tony Parker, president of ASVEL Villeurbanne, confirmed that the coach chosen by the club is German coach Gordon Herbert and that the club is waiting for a response from the German federation.
“The agreement is there and would not stop Herbert from coaching the German national team. We are waiting for the response from the federation,” said Parker, who confirmed that he had only spoken about an alternative name to Herbert, but the first choice was ASVEL: that of Sergio Scariolo. “Hopefully he will be here on Monday,” Parker added, referring to the Canadian coach.
