The blue tennis player Jasmine Paolini is in a high level phase. She earned her fifth win in her last six matches by defeating Laura Siegemund 6-0, 7-5 to secure a place in the semi-finals of the tournament WTA 500 in Zhengzhou . Despite a sizable lead in the second set (6-0, 3-0, 40-15), Paolini had to fight to secure victory.
Paolini dominated overwhelmingly in the first set. From the first rallies, the Italian player showed impeccable determination and precision, often forcing Siegemund to make mistakes. The German’s only moment of recovery, a cue ball in the sixth game, was canceled out by a double fault, giving Paolini the set and then a resounding 6-0 in just 32 minutes.
The second half presented a different story. Despite a promising start, Jasmine lost two double break points in the fourth game, giving Siegemund the opportunity to stage a comeback. The German tennis player was able to take advantage of the opportunity, put Paolini under pressure and equalized 4:4. However, Jasmine showed great character and pushed the match at least to the tiebreak with two error-free rounds of serving. Luckily for her, a break in the twelfth game, albeit after five match points, secured her victory, finishing the game 7-5.
Having now virtually debuted in the top 30 and cemented his position as number one in Italy, Paolini eagerly awaits his next opponent who will emerge from the challenge in between Kalinina and Zheng. In the meantime, he can enjoy the result of hard work and a season at a really high level.
