The 15th Edition of the City of Todi Tennis Internationals | Sidernestor Tennis Cup. The clay courts of the Todi 1971 Tennis Club are back to host the ATP Challenger Circuit event, taking place for the occasion from Sunday 13th to Saturday 19th August. Organized by MEF Tennis Events in the Umbrian city, the tournament has managed over the years to establish itself as one of the longest-running tournaments on the entire Italian and international scene; Even abroad there are not many events that can look back on a fifteen-year history. Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Lorenzo Musetti are just some of the champions who have stepped onto the courts of the Todi 1971 Tennis Club: a source of pride for the organization and the city.
Palmieri: “The tennis of connoisseurs is played here” – The director of Internazionali BNL d’Italia, Sergio Palmieri, associated with the Todi Challenger since its first editions, was the special guest of the press conference: “I really like this tournament and Marcello Marchesini, whom I have known for many years .” years and for that I also feel grateful for what he can do and what he has achieved. The Challengers are the cradle of tennis, what is played at this level is tennis for connoisseurs. It’s a joy to see young people and to be able to say, “I told you this boy was going to be strong.” I’m not just talking about the world number one, I’m talking about those who are at the great circuit allowed to participate. The top 100 has become an increasingly difficult goal to achieve, requiring character and great patience. That’s why we have to appreciate what all the players are doing in this game: stepping onto the pitch and doing their best.”
The words of Mayor Ruggiano – Also for the new edition, the successful combination between the funfair and the Municipal Council of the Mayor of Todi, Antonino Ruggiano, is renewed. “The tournament is a moment of great joy for us, the whole city is linked to this event and I would like to thank the Marchesini family for the work done,” said the mayor. From a tourism point of view, the Challenger is of great importance because it allows us to present our city in the best possible way and this year, too, it will not be easy to find hotel rooms at this time.” Accompanied on the occasion by the Councilor for Budget, Elena Baglioni, and the councilor for family, social, school, cultural and sports association policy, Alessia Marta; Mayor Ruggiano recalled another fundamental stage for tennis in Todi: “In 2020 I still remember with great pleasure the organization of the absolute Italian championships. When it looked like the sport was going to end, all media attention was focused on Todi and his tournament. In the last fifteen years many of those who have become the best in the world have come here and I still remember Marcello Marchesini telling me: “This year there is a young Spaniard called Carlos Alcaraz, you will see him will go far.’ ‘.
Sidernestor Srl remains title sponsor – “We sponsor the event, a city and MEF Tennis Events”. From the early years of the tournament we believed in it and today, together with Sidernestor, I can be proud of it.” The words of an enthusiastic Mauro Cinti, who spoke on behalf of Sidernestor Srl, title sponsor of the International Tennis City of Todi. “I have experienced all editions of the Challenger and invite you to come along. “The work done by the organization is fantastic and studied in detail, that makes all the difference,” concludes Cinti.
