Unlucky start for Italian tennis players at the Chennai Open in India, where Francesco Maestrelli and Luca Nardi suffered defeats in the first round on hard courts of the Indian tournament.

Francesco Maestrelli, he was the No. 6 seed and 179th in the ATP rankings and Luke Nardi, seeded at number 5 and 164th in the world rankings.
