In the first qualifying round Roland Garrosthe Italian Matthew Giant defeated his Korean opponent, Seong Chan Hong. Gigante achieved a convincing victory with a score of 7-5, 6-4, showing an incisive and determined game.
In the first set, Gigante showed remarkable adaptability and responsiveness. After losing serve at 5-4 with one serve left, the Blue immediately countered and set up a crucial break. Despite having to cancel a break ball, Gigante kept his composure and finished the set in his favor, 7-5.
In the second set, Gigante was not upset despite a slight initial uncertainty – he lost a break advantage in the second game. On a total of 4 points, he earned another break and took final control of the game. He then capitalized on that advantage in the next game, finishing the set and match a solid 6-4.
The win marks an important step forward in the tournament for Gigante. Now get ready to challenge either of them Darderi or Bagnis (15) in the second qualifying round.
