Another feat of Rally Sport Evolution has been archived, competing in three different fields of competition with eleven cars to look after, beginning with the opening of the ACI Sport Rally Cup in zone nine on the occasion of the Golfo dell’Asinara Rally.
In Sardinia, Alessandro Ghisu, known as Nicola Demontis, was the best, taking the Peugeot 208 Rally4 to second place in the Rally4 class, RC4N group and tenth overall.
“Difficult conditions and a car that I used for the first time,” says Ghisu, “but although we struggled a bit with the set-up, the result came out that makes us happy and satisfied.” Thanks to my team and mine Partner, we managed to get into the top ten in the overall ranking.”
A very difficult Saturday due to the wrong choice of tires affected the performance of Stefano Cani alongside Davide Spanu on a Peugeot 208 Rally4.
The first to feel a bitter taste was Giovanni Martinez, paired with Marco Demontis on another Peugeot 208 Rally4, who was forced to lose a third place in class, in the RC4N group and a fifteenth place overall to see, so he left the scene on Sunday due to a breakdown of the brake pedal.
A penalty collected couldn’t take away the smile from Giampaolo Moreno Fosci, with Salvatore Azteni on a Renault Clio Rally5, third in class and a good seventh in the RC5N group overall.
“The result could have been better,” says Fosci, “but we were a few seconds late at the time control. Anyway, it’s okay, we’re happy with the result.”
From south to north to always make a stop at the Intelvi Valley Rally between Saturday and Sunday, with a Nikolaos Tsakiris who, together with Nikos Intzoglou, climbed to the third step of the podium in his class in a Peugeot 208 Rally4 and in the RC4N the finished sixth with a good haul for the Lakes Rally Trophy.
“Our second race in the Lakes Rally Trophy” – says Tsakiris – “couldn’t have had a better ending. We came back here to gain experience and have fun in difficult weather conditions. In terms of points for the series, we managed our third place. Thanks to the whole team.”
Instead, Cristian Giumelli, teamed up with Roberta Steffani, had to say goodbye prematurely to a second place in class on the sixth stage due to a broken axle shaft with his Peugeot 208 R2, while making a good comeback that heralded the attack on the lead.
To save the balance of the Ranica racing team among the aspirants was a positive Davide Chiappa, according to the notes of Miriam Marchetti on a Peugeot 208 R2, he finished second in Rally4 – R2 and even touched the general of an RC4N group that took him finished fourth.
“Everything was perfect,” says Chiappa, “and it was a shame to lose so much time on the night stage because for the rest of the race we were always within a few tenths of the top three and even got the finish line .” We fight for a class that is within our reach.”
Instead, Manuel Ponchiardi made a big gift to himself with Roberta Franzoni and made his debut on the Lombard Peugeot 208 R2 after a long battle among the production thousand six.
The front-wheel drive car from across the Alps, despite some difficulties getting used to driving without brake boosters, came close to the podium on his debut and finished fourth in the Rallye 4 – R2.
A technical issue on Saturday at the Renault Clio RS Group N ended an almost certain success for Mattia Ciapessoni, who along with Lorenzo Bertagnon vented his frustration by winning all Sunday’s races and finishing fourth in N3.
First place on the podium also went to Marco Melino, fourth in the Rally5 and in the RC5N on the Renault Clio Rally5, shared with Michele Sandrin, penalized by a wrong tire choice at the start.
Finally, a particularly anticipated event returned in Trentino, the Cronoscalata Levico – Vetriolo – Panarotta, a rediscovered stage of the Italian Mountain Speed Trophy in the northern area.
On the starting line, Gianluca Ruaben made his debut on a Peugeot 208 Rally4, sixth in the E13000 class, but second morally as he had to contend with four Skoda Fabia Rally2s.
An exciting race for him, which was made more difficult by the changing weather conditions.
